2014 Path Through History Weekends
June 7-8 & 14-15
More than 370 special events are planned for New York State’s Path Through History Weekends, June 7-8 and 14-15, at venues throughout the state. Path Through History Weekends are designed to make it easy to experience the Empire State’s rich heritage and diverse attractions. Interactive science museums, homes of former presidents and artists, living history recreations and former battlefields are among the cultural and historic sites offering discounted or free admission along with hands-on activities and special interest tours during these weekends. Many historic districts and parks will also host festivals, often with live music, crafts and local foods. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a nature lover, curious about history or simply want to have fun, these weekends are not to be missed. The Path Through History initiative, introduced by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, includes 13 themes used to organize 500-plus heritage sites across the state. The program includes identifying markers on major state highways as well as additional local signage with the distinctive Path Through History logo to help point the way and a webpage on http://paththroughhistory.ny.gov/ which provides a full list of Path Through History sites along with information about each one.
